The implementation of project will provide clean drinking water to more than 1 million residents of Kazygurt, Saryagash, Keles, Maktaaral, Zhetysay and Shardara districts, and will also partially reduce the electrical shortage in the region. Another predictable effect is a significant reduction in the number of illnesses caused by consuming poor-quality water.
The project is included in the list of strategic water supply facilities of the country. Implementation period – 2021-2025. The concept of the project has been developed and agreed with the government of the Republic of Kazakhstan. EPC contract has been signed with «Power China» company . Currently, the feasibility study and detailed design are being developed.
Hydroelectric engineering is a high-demand sector of the economy, and the new HPP will cover power shortages in Turkistan region and Shymkent. Ugam HPP will be comparable in capacity to the Moynak HPP on the Charyn River.
Up to 500 people will be involved in the construction of the chain of power plants, 100 specialists will take a job at the new facility after the start-up. The planned tax revenues for 10 years — 46,3 bln KZT.
