The production operations are carried out using new technology and are environmentally friendly; – plant meets all environmental and ecological requirements. The high-powered three-level electrostatic precipitators and 51 bag filters almost nullify atmospheric emissions and are not harmful to the environment.
«Standard Cement» is capable of producing large volumes of high-quality cement, its current productive capacity today- 2 million tons of cement per year. The equipment provider – Tianjin Research Institute of Cement Industry of the PRC. There are three types of cement produced: portland cement 400 DO, 400 D20, and slag-portland cement 500 DO. Under special request, cement grades 700 and 800 are also produced here, which are used in the construction of military and aeronautical facilities and subways. It is the only enterprise in Kazakhstan that produces cement using the «dry method. There are no more than twenty such production operations in the world. The wet method is environmentally dirty, it is an obsolete technology.
How is the cement produced? Initially, the wet limestone and clay are crushed in crushers and dried in special drying drums. Then the components run into the mill and are mixed. The obtained raw material is chemically connected and sent to the shaft furnaces. This significantly reduces the cost of the burning, unlike the wet method, which involves mixing raw materials with water in the first stage. The energy input is reduced by almost 1.5-2 times in the dry process.
Upon the initiative of the Head of the company, S. Seitzhanov, who has been engaged in science since he was a student, Chinese partners were offered the technology of adding phosphorus slag, and this offer has been approved. Another important initiative of the head of SOUTH-OIL – implementation of a project to produce plugging cement used in oil fields for cementing wells for the purpose of waterproofing. This has enabled us to meet the needs of oil fields and increase the Kazakhstani component of production. The demand for high-grade cement is enormous and growing.
In 2015, it was decided to build a concrete mixing station in Astana, and with the help of Standard Cement products, the large construction companies, such as BI Group, Basis-A, Sembol Insaat, and others, raised the facilities for Expo 2017.
In 2018, Kazakhstan became a net exporter of cement – for the first time in its history, particularly during the Soviet-era. The plant also owns several quaпies- coal, limestone, ore, clay, sand, which provide the company with raw materials, has its own rail and truck fleets, and is almost independent of outside suppliers.
There is also electricity – at Kenlyk Field, an associated gas processing plant also produces electricity, some of which goes to the needs of the plant. The entire production cycle is looped, from the quarry to packaging.
